This Thanksgiving, give thanks by giving back   As we celebrate Thanksgiving, we look for ways todemonstrate gratitude to the people closest to us. One great way to do that is to look for opportunities to give back to the people or organizations that have given something to you over the years. Here are some ways you can give thanks by giving back.

Veterans’ civic engagement strengthens communities nationwide   According to the 2016 Veterans Civic Health Index from Got Your Six, veterans volunteered an average of 169 hours of their time – making them one of the most active groups of volunteers across the country. Youth in juvenile detention seek to help peers outside their walls   ServiceWorks at the United Way of Greater St. Louis recently hosted a cohort at The St. Louis Juvenile Detention Center. The 10 program participants, who are currently part of the juvenile justice system, drew from their own experiences to brainstorm community needs and discuss ways in which they can use their passions and talents to meet those needs.
