Goals of Service Learning
Peace at the Heart of Service
- Motivate the community to act on issues of social justice, civic responsibility and peace.
- Encourage the creation of more caring local and global communities.
- Support initiatives that foster responsibility, personal growth, and participation in public life.
- Connect learning to community problem solving.
- Foster collaborative relationships to solve needs.
- Empower relevant and engaging action plans.
Service Requirement for Graduation
Give, Grow, and Transform Youth Voice and Choice
Passions Helping Community
- 45 certified hours of service completed and certified before graduation.
- Episodic volunteerism and service learning experiences receive credit.
- Hours certified by a site supervisor who is not a relative and 18 years or older.
- Freshmen may begin serving the summer before the ninth grade year. Middle School hours do not count.
- Transfer students have a 15-hour service requirement per year at Casady. Only service hours performed the summer before joining Casady will count for requirement completion.
- Transfer Sophomores: 30-hours of service while at Casady.
- Transfer Juniors: 15-hours of service while at Casady.
- Transfer Seniors: 15 hours of service while at Casady.
