SECRET AGENT OF COMPASSION

Mission #8 : 09.18.13

Good Morning Agents!

Reports coming in to IKT HQ indicate that our efforts are working! Our super-structure for spreading compassion is taking form and spreading around the planet.

However, intelligence indicates that there is a practice which is inhibiting the full potential of our antidote. We have learned that many people are moving through their days on auto-pilot, often ignoring those places and people most familiar to them. Such practice, compounded by time, can cause what our IKT scientists refer to as "neighborhood blind spots."

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is a two-part strategy designed to neutralize these blind spots. Begin by conducting a tour of what you consider your neighborhood. As you tour, take note of how much is new to you, how much you've never seen before, and what you may have failed to notice before. This part, part one, of the mission is designed to help you consider the familiar with fresh eyes.

Part two of today's mission is for you to look for opportunities to engage in an act of kindness, as defined by you, in your neighborhood. Try not to plan your outing on the kindness action, but let it appear to you. Be open to it. Let it find you. Is it for a person, a group, a particular age? Is it for another species? Is it for the environment? Or is it for some combination?

Once you have defined the kind action, plan it so it can be done as fully as is needed to complete it properly and then do it. Consider the act as having its own integrity and your job is to honor that integrity. Some ideas that might become apparent include:
  * Cleaning up part of a local street, like a storm drain, that is dirty.
  * Leaving a kind note on a neighbor's car windshield.
  * Watering a tree or plant nearby that looks dry.
  * Asking a neighbor if she/he needs support.
  * Helping someone unload their groceries.
  * Moving an object in the road out of the way.
  * Giving directions to someone who is lost.
  * Helping people with a project they are working on.

Additional ideas can be found in this "Mission 8".

As always, should your actions or those of any of the International Kindness Team be exposed, it will increase the positive ripple effect of creating more kindness in the world. Thus, if time avails, we at IKT HQ implore you to report your activities on the "Compassion Map".

Good luck, agents.
