YAC Co-Vice Presidents, Mariam and Safra S. finished the introduction of Peace Week 2016 in UD chapel on 9/9/2016. They raised awareness of the International Day of peace with the following video.
The Service-Learning Program installed the World Peace Village at the Chapel Transept. The World Peace Village Exhibit is on loan from the Episcopal Dioceses. The exhibit will be at the transept until 9/21 to be experienced by faculty and students at will.
Mr. Mark Coate, a member of the Casady Grounds Team, drew the Blue Labyrinth by the Butterfly Garden. The Blue Labyrinth calls for a mindful walk of its path with contemplative meditation. The Blue Labyrinth was a request of the Primary Division, Peace Education faculty in 2015 and returns by popular demand to be experienced at will.
The Service-Learning Program promoted the screening of The Day After Peace (81 minutes), the story behind the International Day of Peace at the Wing from 3-5 pm on September 11th.
On 9/10, Casady participated in the Out of Darkness, Prevention and Awareness of Suicide Walk at Lake Hefner. Mrs. Angie Milligan, UD Administrative Assistant, has been a team leader of the Winged Warriors Team for several years. This year, she raised $640 for suicide prevention research as of 9/13/2016.
On 9/10, Mrs. Hazel Lopez provided the choreography for "Connecting Peace Steps To Rhythm." The dance answers the call from Peace One Day, the entity recognized as the United Kingdom's champion on the establishment of the International Day of Peace on the 21st of September, to raise awareness of PEACE DAY through the Rhythm of Peace.
"Music expresses that which cannot be put into words and that which cannot remain silent." - Victor Hugo
"Consciousness is only possible through change; change is only possible through movement." - Aldous Huxley
Music and dance have proved to possess the power to help healing from traumatic experiences, to bring back humanity and hope in war-torn communities, to bond and unify individuals and therefore to help make peace, with ourselves and with each other.
We are deeply passionate about harnessing the role that music, dance, and movement can play in promoting the message of peace. We encourage individuals, communities and organizations to get involved on Peace Day using any of our initiatives One Day One Dance, Set For Peace and Sounds of Peace or with your own idea.

“It has been discovered that a powerful antidote exists that can counteract the hate, hurt, and negativity that plagues our global community. This highly potent antidote is called “compassion,” and it exists within you.”
