If I were to describe YAG in one word, it would be passionate, the people here love what they do so much.

 Youth and Government is inspiring because it is primarily student led and everyone is very independent.  I met an incredible amount of brilliant, kind and outspoken people.  The enthusiasm really blew me away.

Morning Reflection 

Day at the Capitol

Experiencing an environment in which students can increase their political awareness and understanding while learning the meaning of social action through an actual experience in government.  First year, Youth and Government delegates experience all of the legislative, judicial, and media processes before choosing specific roles in future state conferences.

Congratulations to Cyclone Luke A. who won the Best Youth Commission Delegate award!  He was selected to attend the Youth Conference on National Affairs! He was chosen to participate in CONA.  You were chosen for CONA 2017!  A selection committee monitoed all activities at State Conference.  CONA teens were highly recommended by the committee.  CONA is an amazing trip.  43 other states will bring delegations.  Last year there were over 750 students from across the nation at Blue Ridge Assembly in Black Mountain.  This is the 50^th anniversary of CONA.  CONA means Conference on National Affairs.

Each CONA teen will write a proposal about an international or national topic. Proposal ideas will be turned in to CONA facilitator, Mrs. Whitney Chandler in April.  The final draft will need to be completed by May.  Throughout the spring, CONA will meet 4 times to get to know each other, go over trip details, work on proposals, and practice the debating style for CONA!  The dates aren’t finalized yet but are mandatory.
